William Ashton .... Born on the 4th May1868 in Elton, Bury, Lancashire.
Sophia Procter.... Born on the 18th July 1870 in Gannow, Burnley, Lancashire.
They where married on the 11th July 1891 at Holy Trinity Church, Habergham Eaves, Burnley, Lancashire.
Witness at the marriage was Mary Ann Smith (Sophia's Aunt)
Even though Sophia could not read or write she signed her marriage certificate !
William Ashton is the son of James William Ashworth and Agnes Ashton
No father is named on William's birth certificate but on the IGI the father is named as James William Ashworth.
Sophia Procter's mother was Grace Procter (father unknown)

William and Sophia both worked as Cotton Weaver's and lived in Habergham Eaves, Burnley until 1904 / 1905 when they moved to Barton (They moved to Coalville, Leicestershire for a short time around 1904 ??)
William Ashton died on 5th March 1929 while living at 76 Spencer Avenue, Scunthorpe.
William is buried in an unmarked grave in Crosby Cemetary, Scunthorpe.
Sophia Ashton died on 2nd April while living with her daughter, Clara, on Newport Street, Barton on Humber, Linconshire
Sophia is buried in Barton Cemetary along with her son Herbert. There is a Headstone on the Grave.
