Wainwrights Coast to Coast (Well half of it) 84 miles

(May 17th 1996 and May 23rd 1996)

This walk stats at St Bees and ends at Kirkby Stephen (84 mls) The entire walk ends at Robin Hoods Bay on the Yorkshire coast.

As 2 weeks are needed to complete the Coast to Coast Walk we only had 1 week so we did the best half which is across the Lake District.

I did this walk with Tony and Gavin Hand between May 17th 1996 and May 23rd 1996

We used B&B's throughout but this time employed the services of the "Packhorse", not only to carry our bags between the B&B's (enabling us to carry just a day sack) but also for the car parking at Kirkby Stephen and transport of ourselves to St Bee's for the start of the walk.

Day 1. St Bees to Ennerdale (17th May 1996) – 14 miles (Coast to Coast) - Tony & Gavin Hand
